Beer Tanning’ is the latest viral TikTok trend – but doctors are warning against it.
What is ‘beer tanning’? TikTok videos show users pouring a bottle of beer over their skin as an “alternative tanning method”.
But doctors warn that it’s unsafe. Beer leaves your skin unprotected from UV rays – and can also put you at greater risk of heat stroke or dehydration.
They say sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher remains the best option for soaking in the sun’s rays.
