There are two words to describe Dolly Parton’s rock & roll debut last night: I. Conic.
Like so many country fans, I have always been a huge fan of Dolly, her music, and her message. The song, titled “World on Fire,” is a rock anthem that speaks to the current state of the world. Dolly’s voice was as powerful and soulful as ever, and the lyrics really hit home for me.
Not only was the song itself incredible, but Dolly’s performance was also visually stunning. She looked absolutely gorgeous in a tapestry skirt to start the performance, quickly transforming to all black and leather. The backup singers and dancers transformed their costumes as well, going from shirts and pants to choir robes mid-song.
Overall, Dolly Parton’s performance of “World on Fire” on the ACM Awards was a true highlight of the night. As a lifelong fan, I couldn’t be more proud of her and the message that she is spreading through her music. Thank you, Dolly, for always being a source of inspiration and hope for us all.
