If you were around these parts 12 years ago, this day it etched in your mind. I remember it well, hunkered in the bottom of a 12 story building on Red Mountain thinking, “This is it.” I recall texting my wife telling her I loved her. I was blessed and wasn’t harmed but many were and still have the scars.
On this day years ago, not only people hurt and lives changed here in the Birmingham area, but also in Tuscaloosa, Northport, and many areas up and down the I-59 corridor. Today, we remember and reflect. We also mourn those who were lost and are grateful for the heroes that were seen in the months to come helping.
