Turner, India Ramey was born with music in her blood. After enjoying much success over the past two years with her heartfelt roots/country album, “Junkyard Angel,” India now brings us her sophomore album, “Blood Crescent Moon”. When you listen to her newest album, you will quickly realize how much she has evolved as a singer and songwriter. Erring toward alt-country, “Blood Crescent Moon” elegantly reveals India’s darker side, her favorite side. With its southern gothic mystique, haunting lyrics, driving rhythms and powerful vocals, “Blood Crescent Moon” has a definite swagger. While there is certainly a shadowy “lost highway” feel to this album, India has not abandoned her Outlaw Country roots. Produced by Nashville’s Brian Irvin with contributions from several local musicians including Will Cash on lead/slide guitar, Nick Riccio on drums, Leo McDermott on fiddle, Eric Onimus on stand up bass, and Elizabeth Geller’s harmonies, the message and intensity of “Blood Crescent Moon” is solidly captured. “I don’t think people are going to see this one coming.” Ramey says of her newest project, and that’s a good thing. Do not miss India’s CD Release Show with special guest, on Saturday April 13th at Workplay Theatre. You are going to want to hear this.
